Language Assistants: Interviews by Year 12 Students

Students in Year 10 and above will begin their speaking lessons with our new Languages Assistants straight after half-term. Below are interviews conducted by our students with our Language Assistants.

Meet Clémence – French Language Assistant

Clémence is our language assistant for French this year, and she’s originally from a small village in the North of France. She majored in English and Chinese and then business as a minor degree at the University of Amiens. Clémence studied and lived abroad in Lithuania and is so far enjoying living in London, which marks a change from the small village she grew up in. However, the weather is much the same! In the future, Clémence is thinking about becoming a French teacher for non-French students (like us) and potentially even working in the UK to teach MFL.

Meet Carina – German Language Assistant

Our new German-speaking assistant, Carina, comes from Nürnberg, a city in Bavaria famous for its Christmas market (one of the biggest and oldest in the world). There she studies English and History, with her favourite period being Ancient Greece. She hopes to become a teacher in the future. Her other plans include travelling the world – she specifically wants to explore Iceland and the UK. Carina is enjoying London, as it is in fact her favourite city, because of the variety of museums and the picturesque architecture. One interesting thing about her is that she loves Dungeons and Dragons, the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Indie bands, and Greek and Norse myths!

Meet Lucia – Spanish Language Assistant

Lucia is our Spanish language assistant for this year and is from a small town near Alicante, Spain. She recently completed her university studies at the University of Alicante, where she earned a degree in English, studying literature and linguistics. She is considering pursuing a master’s degree in linguistics or education and is aspiring to teach Spanish as a foreign language to non-Spanish speakers. Lucia spent four months living in Southampton, which allowed her to travel to various places across the UK. She is currently also learning French, which she could teach in the future!
