Channing Association

Channing Association (Senior School)

Social events are organised each term by the Channing Association. This Association is open to all parents and we very much hope you will want to join in.

Its primary purpose is to help parents get to know each other (as well as the School) and generally to develop our sense of partnership in the many activities put on, such as quiz nights, wine tasting and salsa evenings.

The Annual General Meeting (AGM) is held in the Autumn Term, usually in October, and the Association also organises the much-acclaimed Fireworks Night in November, the Year 7 and 8 Disco for the girls each March, and the Sixth Form Leavers’ Ball.

The Channing Association is contactable via sschanningassociation@gmail.com. Each Form has at least two parent class reps. If you are interested in becoming a class rep for your child’s form, please get in touch with the Channing Association.

Channing Association (Junior School)

The Channing Association (CA) is run by parents and supports the school in a number of ways. Parents help on trips and 4+ Assessment Days. They also run preloved uniform sales.

The parents run a wide range of social events for the girls and parents. These include: Fireworks Night (with the Senior School), Christmas Treat, Winter Fair, Quiz/Comedy Night, Family Skating Day, Swimathon, and Summer Fest.

The Junior School Channing Association committee comprises of two representatives from each class, an Hon. Treasurer, an Hon. Secretary, and two Chairpersons. The members of the committee usually serve for two years. There is generally an overlap so that there is one ‘old’ and one ‘new’ chairperson during the academic year.

The form representatives are your first point of contact for the Channing Association and will be able to help you with specific queries about events and social occasions.

Classlist

We ask all Channing parents to create an account with Classlist (www.classlist.com) so they can access the contact details of parents of other girls in your daughter’s class. You can register to join after downloading the Classlist app from the App Store or Google Play. Only those details of parents who have also created an account and given their permission to share details will appear. Every Form in Channing has a class representative and will use Classlist as a way of updating parents with news and updates.

Through joining Classlist you can:

  • Decide exactly what contact information you wish to share with other families
  • View a list of children in the class and year, and contact their parents via the app
  • Find which families live nearby on a map (if they opt in to share their address)
  • Communicate with your class and year in a chat group on the Classlist app
  • Find, join and create other interest groups amongst parents
  • Send invitations to children’s parties and parent social events, request for example dietary info, and manage RSVPs
  • Stay in the loop on events and activities run by the Channing Association and class reps. See how you can help too
  • Decide how many notifications you need: from every comment being notified, to a single weekly digest email from Classlist covering everything relevant to you
