On Thursday 8th, the Geography team and Year 9 ventured out to Kings Cross to investigate the success of urban regeneration. Working in small groups they visited popular sites such as Granary square, and Coal Drops Yard. Students carried out environmental quality and perception surveys and considered the redevelopment through the eyes of a number of different stakeholders. We were lucky enough to have group talks on Google’s new development from Year 9 parent Amy Brown. We discovered that the building is as long as the Shard is tall, and the entire ground floor will host an exciting community space when completed. Year 9 were wonderfully interested and engaged despite the chilly weather. A lovely visit was had by all.
